The most valuable thing back bedding does, aside from the non-rattling, is prevent condensation from dripping down into the glass rabbet. The seal is really important because water entering there pops the putty loose quickly.

A back bedding of ART 601 window glazing will sit on the inside of the window which will give an extra seal for the glass.

With this round tip apply a bead of the glazing around all four sides.
